ROCKING AND
ROLLING
The seas
were a little rocky last night. We had gotten spoiled by calmer (by comparison)
seas.
Having lunch
with our age group: because there are so many limitations on hearing among our
age group, we are subjected to the same observations several times during a
meal because despite the fact that someone else said the same thing before,
either some did not hear the remark, or (even scarier) don’t recall having
heard it before. It is more pronounced at tables for 8; thus we request a table
for 6. I prefer a round table for 6 but we have a rectangular table for 6.
Since one couple rarely shows up, we rarely have hearing issues.
Captain’s
party: This is a party for regular sailing passengers where the person with the
most number of days on a Princess ship is honored. Last night it was Dr. Chuck
who we know from several previous cruises. I also ran into Lady (name shall
remain anonymous) and her companion who are most unforgettable duo.
Formal
night: we got gussied up in our glad rags and had more formal portraits taken.
I have an old friend: a blue sequined dress that is very forgiving particularly
since it is large on me, and I wore that. But after dinner, I changed as there
were threads catching on both of shoes and it was very annoying. So I looked
for the threads and cut them short but I still couldn’t tell you where they
were coming from. Still I picked up a sewing kit today to see if repairs are
indicated.
Show: was
one of their production numbers. All of the talent is very good but the male
dancers are really beyond good. Their jumps are really high and while they are
small people, they lift those women as if they were a piece of paper. We
understand this troupe is going off in Sydney.
LOSING A
DAY!
I pity you
if your birthday is February 4 and you came on this cruise to celebrate. So
while our time is now 2 hrs earlier than LA (we gain one more hour of sleep
tonight), when we cross the international date line, we will lose 2/4/17. At
that point our time will then be later than yours so we will get the news
before you (Ok bad joke).
Trivia in
the morning: the people we generally play with are a pleasant group but we are
no whizzes as a group. The women are very participatory, but the guys are
pretty much riding the waves. One is happy if he meets his standard of on
answer contributed each session. Still we enjoy them very much.
My Internet
Account: I have limited internet access as many of you know and I am trying to
string out my time so I don’t run out. Thus few pics or other communications.
But when we get to civilization, probably New Zealand, I should be able to
upload some pics to photostream. If I have time and can I will actually label
them so you know what you’re looking at.
Weather
outside: ocean seems to have many colors including a blue/purple to light
grayish blue hue depending on weather. It was bright sun earlier and now is
overcast with good wind. The temperature is around 80 and with the wind,
perfect.
Balderdash
I had never
played before and there were too many players and only one had played it
before. But it was fun to try and my new found friend who wears the Beach Bum
hat to beat all beach bum hats, helped me when I was the chaser or whatever
it’s called. I try with things that require eyesight but sometimes it’s a real
challenge so he was willing to be my coconspirator when necessary.
Photos: the
people in the photo shop have been tremendous with us. We discovered Air Drop
because of Urush and can’t imagine why we didn’t know about it sooner! He also
helped us get pics from the flash drive onto the IPhone and iPad.
Buddy Holly:
this was the theme for the entertainer tonight. He was good enough and will be
doing another show of big Bopper and other similar music.
Boo Hoo: no
Star Party tonight. This is an event that is real treat when you are in the
middle of an ocean far from any land. We go to the very top of the ship around
9 pm and the ship’s navigator points out the sky points and discusses them. We
were looking forward to seeing the Southern Cross again. This is what sailors
use for navigation in the Southern hemisphere. However, it is windy, the seas
are rough, it is overcast and it has been raining. So we are promised it will
be rescheduled for a better night.
