Angry sea
We were
awakened a little after 3 am (keep in
mind we turned our clocks back yet one more hour last night) to a rocking and
rolling of the ship. At one point I got up to look at the front of the ship and
even without lights I could see the foam caps and faintly hear the fog horn.
Since we are so far to the front, we don’t hear the fog horn unless we try near
the peripheral windows.
The top of
the ship was wet as if it had rained. You know the seas are rough when you
encounter barf bags all over the ship.
So not much
sleep after that. It is now 9 am and the see is roiling and with lots of white
caps. We are going north to go around the North Island of New Zealand. Perhaps
when we pass that area and head more westerly toward Sydney, it will settle down
a little. We can hear the wind howling too.
Old Blog
2008
I brought
along our blog from our first world cruise. My reactions to Auckland were
similar and we had so much less time there on that cruise.
Laundry: We
did not qualify for free laundry on that cruise and I relived the challenges of
keeping up with your laundry on a cruise this long and with so many passengers.
They have doubled the capacity of the washers and dryers so that helps. Now you
purchase tokens with your cruise card, a great convenience. But having free
laundry is the most important benefit to me when we travel.
Entertainment
It was a
magician – not my thing but Ed enjoys them. Weather still unpredictable with
overcast, occasional sun, temps in low 70s with varying breeze.
Many folks
are leaving at Sydney so we’ll be getting a new group to fill our games.
