Hazy seas

For several days now, the fog or haze has stayed over the sea. It makes for spectacular sunsets however.

The weather has been in the 70s with mild breezes. It is also very humid.

Destination lecture

On Phuket. We have been here before and I suspect we will be repeating a tour we did before because it was interesting and fun. Other than that, and walking the over 100 steps up to the local HUGE Buddha, the only thing to do here is go to the beach.

Amelia Earhart

Again, fascinating information. We learned her personal story and her many careers: nurse, associate editor of cosmopolitan, you name it. But her downfall seems to be that she didn’t fully understand radio which was still pretty new at the time of her flight. It seems the belief is that she almost made it and had she understood radio frequencies, she would have.

Trivia

A fellow new to us joined us and he was a great contributor on names of books and authors. Still we were one point below the winners which seems to be our destiny as that was also the case in the afternoon.

Lunch

With a lovely lady I had seen before who is from Canada. She told us of the dilemma at the table to which she was assigned. It seems there is one woman there who is exceedingly aggressive, especially toward the men. So gradually, couples have been peeling off and requesting other tales until last evening only this lady and the aggressor were left at which point she was the target. So she finally decided she also needed to find a more appealing table. She is a very cultured, accomplished lady, wonderful to talk to, and we felt for her dilemma. She’s be a great addition to our table if we had a space.

Technology challenges

I spent most of the afternoon trying to sort out photos and isolate some on the PC to put on the Apple devices so I could upload them to iCloud tomorrow.

So frustrating. I have made it work successfully many times before but only once on the ship. I changed SD chips multiple times. Tried all the tricks I could think of. The only thing left is that it may require aWiFi connection though I can’t imagine why. I’ll try that tomorrow in the ship’s terminal at Singapore which we are told has great free WiFi.

Tonight’s entertainment

A ventriloquist. Good I’m sure but neither of us was crazy about seeing it so we passed and watched TV.
